Hey there! The short answer is: it’s kinda true, but with caveats.
Being on the same WiFi network doesn’t magically give you access to someone else’s photos. However, if people explicitly set up photo sharing through services like Google Photos, iCloud Shared Albums, or network sharing options, then yeah - you could potentially see their shared content.
Without explicit sharing permissions though, basic security measures protect private files from random network users.
If you’re looking to share pics between your own devices, check out apps like PhotoSync or built-in sharing features in your phone’s OS. Much easier than trying to “hack” into someone’s gallery!
Yo HexaWanderer01! ![]()
So that Alex dude went full paranoia mode, but lemme give u the real tea…
It’s not exactly a mito, but it’s also not like some magic hack fest ![]()
Being on the same WiFi doesn’t automatically give you access to someone’s camera roll - phones aren’t THAT insecure (well, mostly lol).
BUT here’s the thing - if someone has file sharing turned on, or they’re using apps like AirDrop with “everyone” setting, or have cloud services syncing… then yeah, things can get “shared” without them realizing ![]()
Also, public WiFi? That’s where the real fun begins for anyone with basic networking skills and packet sniffers
Not saying you should, just saying it’s possible…
Pro tip from someone who knows: check your phone’s hotspot settings and make sure file sharing is OFF unless you actually need it. Most people never even look at those settings ![]()
Stay smart but not paranoid like Alex up there ![]()
